Is America on the Brink?
You might think headlines such as: “The end of democracy in the US”, or; “January 20 will mark the start of a dictatorship in the US”, seem like YouTube clickbait titles — but, there are many atoms of truth in these statements.
History showed us the playbook of the aspiring Dictator: Break down key institutions; Spread mis- and disinformation; Control the media and shape the narrative; Install loyalists; Create a common enemy; Ban books and discredit the education system.
These are some rules of the game our new dictator must follow to ensure success.
Watching the spectacle of Donald Trump and his political rhetoric, we are, in real-time, observing, with dread, the unfolding implementation of the above.
Donald Trump does not play by the rules, and neither does his loyalist appointees. Every game has rules, even the Mob (at least in the movies) have a code, and this ensures that the game can continue.
When a new team enters the game and decides to break the rules to get ahead, the structure of the game collapses, and all the rule-following teams are left befuddled.
A referee is required to put the game back on track by ensuring the rules are adhered to. If the referee is corrupted, there must be consequences for said referee, and things will get back on track.
But, when loyalists of the cheating team are installed at all levels of the game, the fix is in, and the game as we know it ends.
No matter the whimper, whine, and whinge of the others, they will not get far.
Once this system is implemented, it takes a gargantuan effort to dislodge the rot, and it takes many years to nurture the game and the institutions influencing the game back to health.
With January 20, 2025, and Trump’s takeover approaching, Americans must be more than concerned that this time around, Trump will go full Führer.
Trump, luckily, is the definition of a Narcissist. Why luckily? Because his focus is on himself, his family, friends, loyalists, and their bank accounts — he might use the next four years to milk the taxpayer and then go.
This, sadly, is the best outcome you can hope for.
In President Biden’s farewell speech, he noted:
An oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights, freedom and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said. “We must not be bullied into sacrificing the future, the future of our children and grandchildren.
He is correct in saying this. You do not have to seek the evidence. The likes of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and the deplorable loyalist army with their vile vitriol operate in broad daylight for all to see.
What the future holds for America, we do not know, but we do know that four years of turmoil are about to be unleashed.
Not just on America, but on the entire world.
